Help Jen Help Haiti

That's right, at the end of January I am heading to Haiti to volunteer for an entire month with All Hands Volunteers, an amazing non-profit organization founded in Massachusetts and dedicated to providing hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. My goal is to raise $5,000 in 50 days and I need your help!

I'll be working six days a week in Leogane, a town of 180,000 people spread across urban and rural areas. Much of the population is living in tent camps or on the street in front of their damaged or destroyed homes. Aftershocks still affect the area and people are extremely afraid, so much so that many will not enter structures even during daylight hours. Current team projects include: rubble removal, educating locals about disaster risk reduction, school construction, orphanage support, assisting the Mayor's office and many other youth and educational programs.

What's even more amazing about All Hands Volunteers is that unlike other programs they do not charge a program fee to volunteers. You get yourself there and they provide food and shelter.

I've already contributed $450 to my trip by paying for my airfare. Additionally, I'll be picking up extra shifts at the restaurant and plan to contribute as much as I can towards my fund raising goal as possible.

Here's why I NEED YOUR HELP.... I need to ensure that I can cover four weeks of not having any income. I determined that I need to raise $2,500 to pay my bills and expenses for the month that I am gone (this will cover student loan repayment, rent, utilities, medical expenses, supplies and incidental travel expenses).

However, I also want to raise as much money as possible to donate directly to All Hands Volunteers. That is why my goal is to raise $5,000 over the next 50 days. Anything I raise above and beyond the first $2,500 will go directly to All Hands Volunteers. With your help I can cover my living expenses, dedicate a significant amount of time to helping Haitians on the ground and supply financial support for future projects.

ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP!!!!!
